Mindful Self-Compassion

This program will focus on the cultivation of Mindful Self-Compassion. Self-compassion requires being warm and understanding about our own failings, feelings of inadequacy and suffering, rather than ignoring our pain or engaging in an endless cycle of self-criticism. It breaks the irrational practice of “isolation” that comes from believing we are the only ones suffering such difficulties and teaches us to take a mindful approach to our negative emotions rather than suppress or exaggerate them. We will engage in several hands-on activities and meditation practices designed to cultivate Mindful Self-Compassion in a step-by-step fashion. This workshop is open to everyone — no previous meditation experience required. A $5 materials fee is payable to the presenter at the first meeting.

Presenter: Diana Shakarian – Holds a Ph.D. in Kinesiology and has taught at the university level for over 25 years. She is a 6th Generation Usui Reiki Master, a Yang Style Tai Chi/Qigong Master, a UCLA Certified Mindfulness Instructor and an Eden Energy Medicine Authorized Teacher and Advanced Practitioner (EEM-AP). Diana operates an Energy Medicine private practice and teaches at colleges and venues throughout the United States.
