LovingKindess Meditation

Metta, or LovingKindness, is a meditation practice for developing unconditional or pure love. It is a practice focused on care, concern, tenderness, kindness, and friendship — all cultivated through a softening of the heart and mind, and an opening to deeper and deeper levels of wisdom and love. We begin the practice by extending lovingkindness to ourselves, and then we extend that unconditional love and acceptance to others — eventually practicing for all beings. Although Metta is a Buddhist meditation practice, it can be adapted and practiced by anyone, regardless of religious affiliation or spiritual focus. In this program we will learn and practice lovingkindness meditation, and become acquainted with the rich body of research in positive psychology that has shown metta to be a successful cultivation practice for unconditional love, and a healing practice for mind, body and spirit. This workshop is open to everyone — no previous meditation experience required. A $5 materials fee is payable to the presenter at the first meeting.
